Abstract shapes box
This piece is a tribute to my Grampy Ed he was a wonderful artist and teacher. To see more of his pieces see Grampy Ed’s art in the portfolios.
Step 2
Start to construct the walls making sure to angle all the ends to fit correctly using the dremel. Then make sure all the shapes fit inside the walls and start to cave each block into shape using the dremel. Again make sure all the shapes fit. Now start to paint on the primer.
Step 3
After painting on the primer let it dry overnight. when its fully dry start the first coat of paint on the main box let it dry and paint on designs. Then paint each piece and prime everything to seal the paint.
Step 4
Glue the walls in and then all the pieces finally I burn my signature in the bottom corner on the back of the box.
Materials
wooden box several
wood carving blocks
hand wood carving tools
dremel
clay
hand saw (or another tool to cut wood carving blocks)
Wood primer
Acrylic paint
Step 1
Start by sketching out each shape individually and the piece all together from multiple angles. Then using clay sculpt each wall and each shape. Now roughly cut blocks for each shape using a hand saw or a similar tool.
